Below is an interview with Ryan Curtis, this will hopefully give you guys the answer to any questions you may want to know.
To start off, who is your biggest influence?
- One of my biggest influences would have to be the pop/r&b scene in the USA at the moment. To name a few,
Ne-Yo, James Fauntleroy, Andre Merritt, Chris Brown, Jason Mraz, James Morrison & many more...
How long have you been around music?
- My family has always been involved in the music industry, so i have been surrounded by music and famous artists in the UK since i was about 8 years old. My mum used to be Atomic Kittens old agent and my dad is a music producer (floortom).
What instruments do you play?
- I can play piano, drums & guitar but to be honest my strongest would have to be either piano or guitar.
Who got you into music?
- Really it was when Paolo Nutini & James Morrison first emerged as singer/songwriters who played guitars. They made me want to pick up a guitar and do my own thing too. But besides there influence my family had a big part of me taking up music too.
So what is happening in the world of Ryan Curtis at the moment?
- Well i really busy with college, finishing off everything. That is one of my other hidden talents i've designed websites for about 3 years now (this one too) and that is what i studiest at college also! I'm all finished up at college for web design, and on half term/summer to i'm going a bit nuts with writing and singing at the moment with all my free time.
How do you come up with your songs?
- Sometimes it's just a sudden burst of energy from eating chocolate, then other times it will be from a really weird dream. But some is from life exprience too, relationships; good & bad etc, just the norm!
Who do you work with?
- At the moment i work with my dad, Steve Curtis who is a music producer and he produces tracks which we feel are commercial such as Prohibited. I also work with a writer from California called Jose Diaz(jnd writing) - we are working on about 3 new songs at the moment! 2 songs which could be placed with major artists, so we are quite excited to get started. I also get sent tracks from an amazing producer from England called JaeSwift. My tracks 'Without You' & 'So Tired' were produced by him!
I'm also collaborating with Australian Rappers: jFlip & Kharisma, on numerous projects (without you + hopeless) So that's always fun.
